DOUG STEELE MEMORIAL GOLF 4 LIFE TOURNAMENT

Welcome to the Web Site for the DOUG STEELE MEMORIAL GOLF FORE LIFE TOURNAMENT!  We are delighted to have you visit us!

Family and Friends of Doug Steele are pleased to present the 3rd Annual Golf Fore Life Tournament on Monday, May 11, 2009. We established this golf tournament to honor Doug, who passed away March 2005 following a short but courageous battle with Lymphoma, and to celebrate his love for the game of golf. All proceeds will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Doug devoted a great deal of his life to sports; in particular, to golf. It would have been his wish to assemble his many friends, family, and colleagues to participate in an annual golf outing. Given the past two years' tremendous success, we are excited about hosting the event again at Doug's home club, Ballantyne Country Club.

Chris and the kids still live in Ballantyne and remain active members of BCC. Doug was a past member of the Board of Directors at Ballantyne, and his Ernst & Young business partners are in Charlotte.

We are proud to share the great success of the Golf Fore Life Tournament. We had a tremendous turnout both years with more than 130 golfers participating and more than 200 guests attending the dinner and silent auction. The energy, excitement, and support for our tournament has been overwheming. In just two years, The Golf for Life Tournament has raised an amazing $100,000 with net proceeds of $80,000 being donated to our respective causes!

In the inaugural year, the proceeds were distributed equally between two charities - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS)  and the Doug Steele Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is administered by The Foundation of Appalachian Ohio. In that first year, we were able to jumpstart Doug's annual scholarship - awarded to a graduating senior at Doug's alma mater, Cambridge High School. Therefore, last year's proceeds were entirely devoted to LLS. A portion of our donation helped fund important research projects, including a T-cell Lymphoma study being conducted at The Ohio State University. In addition, our proceeds benefitted the local chapter of the LLS. All proceeds from this year's tournament will again be exclusively donated to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

To our returning family and friends, you will note that this year's tournament will take on a revised format. In light of current economic conditions, we have scaled back the evening event by replacing the silent auction with a raffle. We hope that you will find this year's event to be just as rewarding as we remember Doug and continue the fight against cancer!

We are especially grateful for the outpouring of support from our Ohio family and friends during the past two years and look forward to another great turnout from the Buckeye contingent at this year's tournament. GO BUCKS!!!!

Continued heartfelt thanks to Ballantyne Country Club, Ernst & Young, and Goodrich for their generous support of our Golf Fore Life Tournament. We also thank the many local businesses and the Ballantyne community for their overwhelming generosity and commitment to this event.

Thank you in advance for your help and participation as we work to combat cancer together. Your support of the Golf Fore Life Tournament will touch many lives and continue to keep Doug's memory alive!

SEE YOU MAY 11th!!!
